Jurassic Park: The Game — игра созданная на базе культового кино-шедевра Стивена Спилберга, а также по мотивам одноименного романа Джона Крайтона. Примечательно, что события игры не дублируют историю описанную в оригинале, а развиваются значительно позже.

В штормовую ночь, когда Парк Юрского Периода был практически разрушен, контрабандистка проникает на остров Исла Нублар с целью похитить контейнер с эмбрионами динозавров. К сожалению, вскоре становится ясно — новая система безопасности дала сбой и весь остров снова переходит под контроль динозавров.

В роли различных персонажей, игроку предстоит спасаться с острова, пытаясь не стать обедом для его хищных обитателей.

Jurassic Park: The Chaos Gene Details

The game will be available online at MondoTees.com and in stores everywhere this Fall. The box top will be on display at Mondo’s booth at San Diego Comic-Con (#435), and attendees will have the opportunity to get a special Jurassic Park patch when visiting the booth (seen above).

Here are some more details released by Mondo, first up is the product description:

“Jurassic Park: The Chaos Gene” is a 2 to 4 player asymmetrical miniatures board game, for age 14 and up. Choose your faction from the following: InGen, Park Visitors, Raptors or the T. rex. Find items needed for your faction, attack or avoid other dinosaurs, gain experience and customize your faction. With several scenarios and modular environment tiles for players to explore, each faction has unique objectives to complete in an effort to win the game!

Next up are descriptions of the different factions playable in the game:

Tyrannosaurus Rex: Instinct Objectives

Quick, methodical, and unstoppable best describe the T. rex faction. One thing she is not, though, is quiet. The T. rex’s unrelenting drive makes her highly focused on satisfying her natural instincts… at all costs. The T. rex can move twice as fast as the other factions and can affect the movement of the other players with her fearsome roar, all while completing her objectives.

Raptors: Seek and Destroy Objectives

The Raptors are a cunning, resourceful, and flexible faction. Their stealth allows them to move quickly and quietly. Unique from all other park dinosaurs, their communication abilities enable them to work together in defending areas in their control, triangulate attacks on humans and park animals, and discover weaknesses in the park’s defenses.

Park Visitors: Survival Objectives

Park Visitors are both in awe of the park and terrified by its destructive nature. Visitors are able to extract the resources they find and use them to complete objective requirements or activate more powerful faction abilities. Highly skilled in their respective fields, each character brings a unique ability to the group as they make their way through the park and accomplish objectives.

Ingen: Park Management Objectives

With systems crashing throughout the park, InGen is desperate to keep it functioning. Somewhat blind to the park’s status, their intimate knowledge of it makes them both helpful and dangerous to dinosaurs and humans alike. A successful InGen player must carefully manage resources and use their unique abilities to help shape the movements of other players.

И хотя по постановке это все еще дешевый квест, классическую механику, особо не меняющуюся с самого первого эпизода Sam & Max, все-таки уничтожили, и теперь это больше не череда пазлов «а вот куда бы засунуть эту кастрюлю?», а довольно дилетантское подражание Heavy Rain. То есть ситуации тут бывают двух типов. Первый — когда герои от кого-то бегут или с кем-то дерутся (в это время нужно нажимать загорающиеся на экране кнопки), второй — когда задумчиво морщатся и сосредоточенно всматриваются в помятую траву.

Как бы вы ни относились к сценарным талантам Дэвида Кейджа, нельзя не признать, что в отдельных сценах Fahrenheit и Heavy Rain все эти сплывающие буковки и стрелочки все-таки источали животный драйв. У Telltale же напрочь отсутствует чувство ритма: вас могут заставить долго-долго нажимать на «A», только чтобы герой опустил глаза на подозрительные следы, зато три кульбита он выполняет, стоит лишь слегка дотронуться до стика.

Но дело, конечно, не в этом. Половина успеха фильма Спилберга — в том, как выглядят, рычат и двигаются динозавры. Для того чтобы населить экранный парк, работали сразу несколько команд. Аниматоры-старообрядцы покадрово снимали изображения специальных кукол (примерно так же делали скелетов еще в «Ясоне и аргонавтах»), механики покойного ныне Стэна Уинстона делали модели в натуральную величину, а все это сводили вместе и дорисовывали на компьютере CG-специалисты из Industrial Light & Magic. Конечно, под пристальным присмотром палеонтологов.

В работе над Jurassic Park: The Game их всех заменили квестовые моделлеры и технология для iPad-игр, и в итоге все доисторические существа (за исключением разве что тираннозавра) выглядят как в фильме «Путешествие к центру Земли» Генри Левина, облепленные картонными накладками ящерицы из которого в свое время возмутили Спилберга до глубины души.

С людьми (группа забытых на острове зевак плюс наемники) все еще хуже: они выглядят как зомби и бегают как зомби, а их лица сведены страшными мышечными спазмами. Ждешь от них только одного — чтобы побыстрее заткнулись.

Интересно, что в своих творческих поисках Telltale находятся в опасной близости с фильмами, придуманными Джорджем Лукасом, и не исключено, что следующие их интерактивные опыты будут посвящены «Индиане Джонсу» или «Звездным войнам». Ирония в том, что в свое время они преподносили себя как раз как команду, в свое время собаку на квестах съевшую в стенах LucasArts. А попав в родную среду, глядишь, и вспомнят, что такое настоящее приключение.
